All of the mountains I have hiked in the past have had a nice trail to the top. This hike is different! You gain almost 2000 feet in 1/2 a mile, so you have to scramble all this way to the top. There aren't any cliffs that you need to avoid, but you still need to be very careful. This is a physical, mental, and dare I say, spiritual challenge, as well. Ahhhh, but the view from the peak makes all the effort worth it! Also, if you attempt this hike, use the track that I took down from the mountain peak for both ascent and descent. (On my route up the mountain I got 'boxed in' by terrain that was too steep, and I had to backtrack a few times, heading down the mountain, and then back up a different way, to find my route to the top. -Those were the moments when I faced my spiritual challenges. hee hee.) Actually, the entire hike is very enjoyable, so don't worry if you can't reach the top.
