The iconic St. Naum Monastery on the south side of the Lake Ohrid is the starting point of Galicica Ultra - a 66k trail race with 3,350 meters elevation gain.
In the early morning tranquility of Crn Drim river sources, the route follows the main ridgeline taking on trails and dirt roads in the heart of Galicica National Park revealing captivating landscapes of both Lake Prespa and Lake Ohrid all at once, to the finish line down by Ohrid town square.

Very impressive hike and a very interesting approach of the Magaro Peak which I was not aware of! How well do-able is that steep ascent? Is it overgrown?
I also noticed you have pepperspray with you :-) Did you ever need to use it? Against bears or the shepherds dogs?

The ascent to Magaro is steep but the terrain is ok, there is one rock garden (about 100m) the rest is short grass.
The pepperspray was just a precation against dogs :) i never needed it.
