-Kuito to Luena-along the railroad tracks-Part 1 to Camacupa

This track will get you through Bie Province into eastern Angola so that you can continue to Zambia. It follows the newly built railway line and was probably formerly the supply road. Do not let the paper maps give you a false sense of security. This track starts off easy enough, but soon turns into notoriously deep sand. It will take you about 11 hours of hard driving to get through the 300km from Kuito to Luena.
Part 1 to Camacupa is the easy part—asphalt for 20km then good graded road slowly deteriorating. The deep sand starts after Camacupa.
